Joint Projects
Joint research projects offer an in-depth form of collaboration between industry and academia, and are as such vital for ensuring that relevant research is undertaken in the research environment. Further, partnering up in a joint research project is an excellent way of achieving bidirectional transfer of knowledge. TOCSYC is active in two different types of joint research projects:
Externally funded co-production projects: A number of Swedish funding agencies (like The Swedish Knowledge Foundation, Vinnova and The Swedish Foundation for Strategic Research) offer opportunities for different types of joint projects between industrial partners and research partners. Typically, such projects run for two to five years and require that the industrial partner(s) contribute with "in-kind funding". Simplified, the industry partner(s) commit to spending a certain amount of time on a certain project, an application is written to the funding agency, and if the application is granted, the research partner receives a corresponding amount of funding for joint research with the industry partner(s).
Contract research projects: TOCSYC also have various available formats for contract research projects, where industrial partners themselves fund the research to be conducted. These projects are typically shorter and have a more specific objective. For more information on how to proceed with contract research projects‚ see Explanea, SICS Swedish ICT or Software Center.
